This is the Workshop I wanted when I was learning to grow dahlias!

There is nothing like a garden full of dahlias to make you feel like an amazing gardener. Dahlias are not hard to grow, but there are some tricks that make growing dahlias a bit easier and will ensure your dahlias have an amazing year. Your dahlia plants should be 4 to 6 feet tall, covered in blooms and continue blooming until the frost blankets your garden. Learn the tips and tricks that flower farmers use to ensure beautiful healthy plants and buckets full of blooms.

Each person will be going home from this workshop with 3 dahlia plants to plant in your garden.

Things we will learn.

  • Identifying the parts of a dahlia tuber

  • How to plant a tuber

  • Planting tubers vs planting plants

  • Pinching for more blooms

  • Care of plants through the summer

  • Staking and supporting

  • Fertilizing

  • Pests and diseases

  • Collecting seed

  • Digging and storing your tubers for the cold season

  • Taking cuttings to increase your plant numbers

Things you should know for this workshop

  • This workshop will be held rain or shine, so please dress appropriately

  • please no one under the age of 12

  • Each person attending must purchase a ticket

  • We will be walking thru the gardens so please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the weather.

  • There may be uneven ground and mud
